State-administered death is always a greater horror than any other by virtue of the methodical reasoning that precedes it. French philosopher Albert Camus wrote that "capital punishment is the most premeditated of murders, to which no criminal's deed, however calculated, can be compared. "For there to be an equivalency, the death penalty would have to punish a criminal who had warned his victim of the date on which he would inflict a horrible death on him and who, from that moment onward, had confined him at his mercy for months. Such a monster is not to be encountered in private life."

My name is David Riley, born August 17, 1984 (Leo). I have been on death row in Alabama since March 21, 2007. I am looking for someone to write that can help my mind escape the confinement of a 5x8 cell I'm forced to be held in 23 hours a day. Age, race gender doesn't matter to me. We all are humans.

A little about myself would be nonjudgmental, open minded, a good listener. I can be stubborn at times. I like to make people laugh and smile. I love to listen to music. I really can't say I have a favorit kind because I like all kinds of music, R&B, pop, rap, alternative, rock, blues/Jazz and raggae. For me music soothes the soul. It touches the person's character.

I also love sports. I enjoy anything competive. My favorite two sports are football and basketball, playing as well. I have recently learned how to play volleyball. That is fun too. I also like to read, as long as the book is exciting and full of adventure or suspense. John Grisham, James Patterson and David Baldachi are some of my favorites. I'm not shy. I enjoy talking to people.

I do hope we can become friends. I hope we can share feelings and thoughts with each other. I can only tell you what I have because I don't know what you would like to know. Please feel free to ask me whatever. I don't expect you to put in anything that I#m not to have a friendshipfor the long term.

There can't be anything in the letter except photos or postage if you chose to send them Postage isn't required but will be appreciated for at times it's hard for me to come up with at times. Photos can't be no bigger than 4x6 and no more than 6 at a time. Nothing else will be allowed.
